FIRE AND DISASTER PREVENTION : ELECTRIC VEHICLE
ANTI-INFLAMMATION WATER TECHNOLOGY
EV fire accidents are difficult to extinguish
Can traditional fire extinguishing equipment effectively prevent electric vehicle fires from burning?
Once an electric vehicle catches fire, the hazards caused by it will be inevitable. Liquid lithium batteries exceeding 100-180*C or solid-state batteries exceeding 300-400C will face the danger of thermal runaway. Lithium batteries will release an open flame and burn to 1100C, releasing toxic gas (HF 、 HCN、POF3).
Current EV fire extinguishing technology
According to SET News, Mr. Wang, who specializes in Tesla, gave an example of a Tesla Model S that caught fire in Texas, USA. The fire department dispatched 8 firefighters and it took 7 hours to successfully extinguish the fire, with a water consumption of 10.5 billion liters. A household can use this amount of water for 2 years. Therefore, extinguishing self-igniting Tesla is harder than extinguishing a burning building.

Current Fire Protection Setup Standards and Regulations
According to the explicit provisions of the Laws & Regulations Database of The Republic of China :
In Section 5 Foam Fire Extinguishing Equipments, Article 71(2): Foam nozzle shall be used in garages, indoor parking areas, and other places, and at least one nozzle shall be equipped for every 9m2 of floor area, thus covering the protected objects in the effective range.
Water has the best effect on extinguishing lithium batteries.
According to international research, water has the best extinguishing effect on lithium-ion batteries, and the suffocation type of extinguisher such as dry powder or gas has little effect on extinguishing lithium-ion batteries from burning. As shown in the figure on the right, the electric vehicle must start extinguishing the fire from the chassis because the chassis is a lithium battery pack, and there is a high chance of reignition. Saving an electric vehicle requires at least 10 tons of water to completely extinguish the fire, which consumes 4 to 5 times more water than ordinary vehicles. Other methods such as fire blankets can only prevent prolonged burning, reduce the fire, and cannot be extinguished.
Cooling and fire extinguishing technology for EV
Automatic fire extinguishing equipment is crucial for controlling and extinguishing fires. They play a key role in protecting lives and property.
Fire regulations use upper spraying (Fire has expanded)
Traditional fire extinguishing mechanism: Spray foam or water sprinkler system from the ceiling downwards.
Early spraying at the lower end (Prevent fire expanded)
The thermal detection camera detects the set temperature, the FalconRadar nozzle will spray a horizontal water screen to the entire chassis (lithium-ion battery position).
FalconRadar system adopts Vatenfal system to cool and extinguish the fire for electric vehicles
Electric vehicles use lithium batteries as the source of power installed on the chassis. If a car accident occurs, the traditional fire extinguishing mechanism is to spray foam or a water sprinkler system from the ceiling to the ground. The fire hazard of lithium batteries in electric vehicles is the cooling effect cannot be immediately produced, it may further cause the temperature to be out of control cause a large amount of smoke and open flames to spread, and even cause serious disasters to people, vehicles, and property.
Due to the special fire characteristics of electric vehicles, our company has innovatively developed the FalconRadar water screen system specifically for electric vehicles over the past four years and installed the nozzles on the parallel lines of the rear end floor. When an electric vehicle fire occurs, the thermal detection camera links the control panel to start the water screen system and sprays it through the electric vehicle's chassis through the FalconRadar nozzle to cool the temperature of the battery module shell at the bottom of the vehicle, which can prevent the fire from expanding and burning other vehicles and prevent dense smoke spreads.
